Samsung officially released the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 alongside Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10 Plus. However, the release of the second iteration of Samsung wearable was overshadowed by the popularity of the smartphone, but it does not mean that the wearable is underwhelming. In addition to its wide array of interesting features, it appears that the Seoul-based tech giant is preparing to roll-out Fall Detection and ECG support to Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.
Sammobile reports today that Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will receive ECG and Fall Detection support. Both features allegedly will be released in the US starting February 2020, says the report. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 has long been rumored to feature ECG and Fall Detection even before it was officially unveiled, but the features will not present during the official release due to pending approval from the FDA.
Additionally, the report claims that the fibrillation detection feature of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 might only be available to users in the US and probably in Korea. The Fall Detection feature, on the other hand, will be available worldwide. Once the feature is enabled, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be able to take an ECG or electrocardiogram and provide notifications to the wearer if it detects indications of atrial fibrillation or an irregular heartbeat that could lead to heart-related issues and complications.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be officially released in South Korea on September 6 and in the United States on September 23. So far, Samsung has not yet revealed the release date of its latest wearable in other regions. Most probably, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available worldwide by November 2019.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is loaded with interesting features. This includes the touch-sensitive bezel which is put in place of the mechanical bezel present in its predecessor. Aside from the upcoming Fall Detection and ECG, the wearable also packs a lot of health-related features that are yet to be released.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is anticipated to be released with the latest version of OneUI which eventually will be used by its predecessors. The Seoul-based company did great wonders in porting several features from the newer device to the older version, but some of these might not make it because of hardware and regulatory restrictions. Since this information did not come from Samsung, we advise that you take this with a pinch of salt and with skepticism.
