Four months have already passed, but no word has heard yet from the creators of Gomorrah about its return on small screens. While Gomorrah Season 5 is already sealed, no further updates have been given to the public.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the franchise's focus has been shifted toward its prequel film titled, L'Immortale. And based on recent reports, the upcoming movie will serve as a "bridge" between the series' fourth season and the upcoming Gomorrah Season 5.
While the prequel will pick up on the third season's finale, the whole plot is revealed to take place in between the new seasons of the series. With this plan at hand, it made a lot more fans attracted and excited about the show. Other series lovers are now even more intrigued with what the show is offering to its audience.
Per reports, L'Immortale is already in the process of development. It has been uncovered that the filming already began in May, right after the series' fourth season concluded.
As any fan would recall, the third season ended with the show's main character, Ciro, being shot by Gennaro, as forced by Enzo upon learning who killed his sister. It has been established that Ciro died as he did not return the following season. But when the prequel film's trailer dropped a few weeks ago, this may not be the case after all.
As it appeared, L'Immortale seems to be hinting that Ciro survived the gunshot. Not to mention, the film essentially centers on his character, hence the title. And with the film's take as the "connecting bridge" between the new seasons of the series, it only gives the notion that Ciro might be alive after all.
But of course, this is just a huge hunch made by the fandom. It is also worth noting that his death startled almost everyone considering that he is the series' main character. So, bringing him back might just be fitting.
Even so, Spectator UK emphasizes that this is one of the reasons why Gomorrah has been one of the most impressive series of all time. Its "fidelity" to the realities of life, especially concerning Mafias and crime clans, is essentially what made the show great and compelling. And having some of the main characters dead somewhere in between is just one way to stay in light of the truth.
On another note, the preparations for the film is taking everyone out on schedule. This is why many are convinced that Gomorrah Season 5 will premiere after L'Immortale drops on big screens.
The release date for L'Immortale is not yet announced. But, as per reports, it may arrive the next holiday season. Therefore, it may also be the period when the new season of the series will premiere on Sky.
