Suits is about to come to an end, but it will leave fans with its spinoff series, Pearson. Pearson Specter Litt's former managing partner moved to Chicago to work for the city's mayor, entering a political environment. Now, she has to do everything with care as anything she does wrong will surely cause her big trouble.
In Episode 9, Angela (Chantel Riley) will lead a tent city outside the City Hall. Keri (Bethany Joy Lenz) will start to think more about her future this time, while McGann (Wayne Duvall) will recover Nick (Simon Kassianides).
Pearson has been led by one of the strongest female characters on television. But aside from Jessica (Gina Torres), it also features another brave woman, Angela. In an interview with Hidden Remote, Riley talked about her role and its distinctiveness among the world of Suits and its spinoff.
Riley believes Angela's role is something different from what she used to do. She already played a detective character on Frankie Drake Mysteries, but being a nursing assistant is something new for her. "As an actor, you always want to be able to play as many different people as you possibly can," she said.
So, being on Pearson Episode 9 allows Riley to play the character of a single mom from the south side of Chicago. Here, she has two kids that she needs to look after and a community to fight for. The Canadian-Jamaican actor finds her role attractive that she had the chance to go for it.
She also considered herself lucky and honored to be selected for the representation. But despite the show's theme, Angela seems to be the only character that doesn't have a connection to the dirty world of politics. Now, it's a big question if she will ever get involved in all the drama that Jessica and other characters have to deal with.
"I feel like it might be a little impossible for Angela to not in some way be pulled in because whatever Jessica's doing at City Hall is affecting not only her community but her family," Riley explained. Every decision they make within the city is affecting the community, so Jessica is going to see its effect on her family, including the 90-day notice and other stuff. Will these things be revealed in Pearson Episode 9?
But as Angela is known for her fearless attitude, she will do anything to keep her family safe, even if it means she will get involved in their messy world. She will not only do this for her kin but her community as well. Pearson Episode 9, "The Rival," is set to be out on Wednesday, Sept. 11, on USA Network.
