Supergirl Season 5 is expected to explore different storylines, but it may focus on Kara Danvers (Melissa Benoist) and Lena Luthor's (Katie McGrath) relationship. Aside from Kara's new costume, Lena now knows the truth about Kara's real identity as Supergirl. So, how will it affect their friendship come new season?

Lena is the last one to know about Kara's alter ego within the group. As this may cause a problem between the two, there are questions if Lena will still be friends with anyone after the revelation.

In an interview with TVLine, executive producer Jessica Queller revealed Kara and Lena's relationship would be the season's "emotional center." "Kara's betrayal puts that friendship front and center," she said.

According to CarterMatt, the betrayal may put Kara and Lena at odds with each other. There is also a chance Lena will turn evil and go against Kara. There may be a dark transformation come Supergirl Season 5, but it may never go that far.

Sure, Lena will be hurt with her discovery, but it may never change who she is. She may never turn dark or change attitude because of what she saw. There is a fundamental belief to who she is, and she just has to hold onto it.

Meanwhile, there will be big changes happening in the new season - especially on Kara's looks. In a new photo shared by TVLine, it gave a glimpse to the Girl of Steel's new costume and hairstyle. It also showed some details about how her new cape connects to the outfit.

In Supergirl Season 5, fans will see Kara with bangs and pants. The fan-favorite female superhero now dumped her skirt and replaced it with pants.

"We've been talking about pants since season 1," Benoist said, via ComicBook. "Every time a writer from the show has come up, and it's freezing cold in Vancouver, I'm like, 'Guys, please can I not wear tights?'" I love [Kara's old costume]. ... until recently, I'm like, 'Something's gotta give.'"

Queller and fellow showrunner Robert Rovner revealed that although they had been considering about Kara's pants for a while, they still had to find time to design a new look for the heroine. They admitted they were all in the same boat to give Supergirl the pants and ditched the short skirt.

They knew it would be a powerful move for the show, and Melissa would surely love it. Hence, they just had to find the right time to design the suit. Fortunately, they had the chance to do it in-between seasons. Supergirl Season 5 is set to be out on Sunday, Oct. 6, at 9/8c on The CW.
