While fans of Jack Ryan season 2 are eagerly awaiting its return on Amazon Prime, this November, an official from Venezuela has nothing but criticism for the spy series starring John Krasinski. Venezuelan Culture Minister Ernesto Villegas posted his message against the show's plot, citing that it is promoting the invasion of his country.

In a post on Twitter, Villegas accused the creators of Jack Ryan season 2, including Amazon Prime, that its new story this season is "crass war propaganda disguised as entertainment." Despite Amazon releasing the synopsis for Jack Ryan season 2 several months ago, its plot threads the line between fiction and reality as Washington, D.C. has been considering taking action against Venezuela amid its current crisis.

"The military intervention of Venezuela, put "on the table" by Donald Trump and his gang of fanatic supremacists, is supported by the gringo propaganda machine," the minister wrote.

Indeed, Jack Ryan season 2 delves on the crisis in Venezuela, albeit with a more intricate plot. As seen in the full trailer, Krasinki's CIA agent character talks about the presence of nuclear weapons in Venezuela as supplied by Russia and aimed at attacking the United States.

Reports from Venezuela also stated that the CIA agent would suffer based on the orders of the Venezuelan president in Jack Ryan season 2. It will depict the government of the South American nation as led by a tyrant.

"Leave it to Americans to make a show depicting their victims as monsters who want to nuke them," foreign journalist Rania Khalek said of her criticisms of the Jack Ryan season 2's teaser in a Twitter post. Khalek further pointed out that the intervention of the U.S. in the political crisis of other countries, such as Venezuela, has resulted in more than 40,000 deaths.

Another journalist and the creator of the series Empire Files, Abby Martin, has also called out Krasinski for starring in a show that pushes the plans of the Trump administration against Venezuela. She wondered if the actor has no shame in becoming a part of this war propaganda.

As of press time, neither Amazon Studios, Krasinski or the showrunners of Jack Ryan season 2 have not made addressed the criticisms about the trailer. The second season is expected to drop on the streaming platform on Nov. 1, 2019.
