After three years, fans are still hoping there will be Monster Musume Season 2. The show has been on hiatus for a long while now, but its studio, Lerche, remains tight-lipped about its future? Will there still be a chance that fans will once again see Kurusu Kimihito, Miia, Papi, Centorea, Suu, and the rest of the gang back on the small screen?
Econo Times recently reported the manga's original video animation (OVA) was released in 2017. After almost three years, there has been no news since then.
Will there still be Monster Musume Season 2? There are reports the second season gets delayed due to its author's, Okayado, health issue. The creator announced on Twitter that he would take a break to focus on his mental health, per Anime News Network.
However, he didn't reveal when he would return. Okayadao said he would like to focus on recovery so that he could work on the serialization as soon as possible. The manga series took several months off in 2017, while the Comic Ryū blog claimed the breaks were the preparation for the "compiled volume releases for the series."
In 2018, the manga also took a break between the 59th chapter in March and 60th chapter in June. Its 61st and most-recent chapter was out on Aug. 30 of the said year. More than a year had passed, no new installment came.
The anime is originally a manga series written and illustrated by Okayado. So far, its chapters get collected and reprinted into fourteen "tankōbon" volumes. As the manga series' runs out of materials, it has affected the making of the anime's second season. Without source materials, the show will never push through.
Season 1 was based on the Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou manga chapters one to 16 and 18 to 25, while the two OVA covered volume number 17 to 26. However, since Okayado is reportedly backed at work, Monster Musume Season 2 might finally see the light of the day.
There are even rumors the monster girls will be fighting each other as they all want to marry Kimihito Kurusu. As fans know the girls to be competitive, it will be a great battle among these creatures to see who will win.
However, Lerche Studio has yet to officially announce if Monster Musume Season 2 is now in the works or when it will be out. There are also rumors it may possible gets released this year, but that is yet to be confirmed, too.
