All American Season 2 will officially arrive earlier next month on The CW. The soapy football drama is based on the story of African-American pro-NFL player Spencer Paysinger. Now, here are the details we know about the second installment, including the cast, plot, and other spoilers.

Back in May, The CW announced the renewal of All American for a second season. The network's head Mark Pedowitz confirmed the news since the series became available on Netflix and found its global audience. Series actor Taye Diggs said he's thankful the series found its way on the streaming platform and gained a huge fanbase.

"We had such a great time shooting the first season, and thankfully, because of Netflix, they've got the show out there, and we've got a huge fanbase now," Diggs said via Wonderwall. The actor, who plays Coach Baker, added All American Season 2 would not just feature the drama surrounding football and family. The series will also touch other relevant issues nowadays, such as race and social dynamics.

All American Season 2 will premiere on Monday, October 7, on The CW, and it will reportedly consist of 13 episodes. Daniel Ezra, who plays the lead character of Spencer James, will return in the second season, along with Cody Christian as Asher Adams, Karimah Westbrook as Grace James, Samantha Logan as Olivia Baker, Bre-Z as Tamia' Coop' Cooper, Greta Onieogou as Leila Keating, and Taye Diggs as Coach Baker.

Other cast members expected to return in upcoming installment include Demetrius Shipp Jr (Tyrone Morris), Brent Jennings (Willy Baker), Chelsea Tavares (Patience), Jalyn Hall (Dillon James), Monet Mazur (Laura Fine-Baker), and Michael Evans Behling (Jordan Baker). Reports also suggest All American Season 2 might be introducing new characters.

As mentioned, All American is based on the life story of Spencer Paysinger. He played for the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins, but he retired in 2018. The series featured the African-American pro-NFL player's younger years (played by Ezra) and showed his life wasn't smooth sailing. He faced hardships along the way before becoming a professional football player.

In the official synopsis of All American Season 2, Spencer James is now a football State Champion. But, still, he needs to make some tough decisions: moving back home to South LA to reunite with his family and play for his father Corey (Chad Coleman) or staying in Beverly Hills and play for Coach Billy Baker.

For Spencer, this is a hard decision because it isn't just about football since he needs to choose between the people he loves. Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll also said the upcoming season opens with a new football season - but not a new school year. Reportedly, the upcoming All American Season 2 will highlight the seven versus seven games as well.
