For any crime drama series lover, Undercover Season 2 is certainly included in the list of series to wait for its premiere. With the show's compelling and astounding plot as seen in its ten-episode pilot season, it has become one of Netflix's most popular material offerings of today.
The non-English-language series that stars Tom Waes, Anna Drijver, and Frank Lammers is now deemed as one of today's appealing web series. Variety even mentioned that it has easily obtained its global audience upon its arrival on the platform.
Undercover is co-produced by Netflix and Eén, a public Belgium TV station. Also, it was commissioned as a "direct-to-series" material. And just last May of this year, the first season premiered on both platforms.
The plot of the show revolves around two cops, Bob Lemmens and Kim de Rooij, who are from the Dutch and Belgian police forces. The events that happened ever since the start of the series are all inspired by true stories that occurred within the vicinities of the said cops.
During the first season, the two cops posed as a couple to bust a drug ring that manufactures Ecstacy in Belgium. This storyline will continue in the next season as per What's On Netflix.
But while the continuity will not be scratched, it has been revealed that Undercover Season 2 will focus more on the apparent "illegal arms operation" that started in Syria and found its way to Belgium.
Bob and Kim will still be the center of the premise. But Bob is revealed to go undercover on his own. Also, the second season will comprise a total of ten episodes. Further details will surely clear out in the coming months since the filming will be concluded this month as per reports.
There is no clear renewal announcement that came from Netflix. But even so, reports have already confirmed that Undercover Season 2 will happen. The filming of the new season reportedly began on April, a month before its pilot premiere.
The case is also the same for its arrival date on Eén and Netflix as no word has been given yet about the matter. But since it has been confirmed that filming will conclude this month of September, it is highly likely for the show to return in 2020.
It is also worth considering that Undercover Season 2 might follow its pilot season premiere schedule. Since the first season premiered in May of 2019, then it is possible for the new season to also arrive during the spring season.
