The end has begun as Lucifer Season 5's production already started. The show has been surrounded by a lot of theories, given that it will be the last and final bow of Lucifer (Tom Ellis) and the rest of the gang. Hence, some wonder if Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) will return now that her son is in Hell.
Netflix gave fans a glimpse of the show's production, revealing the behind-the-scenes snap of the cast and crew at their final table read. The streaming giant has remained mum about the new season's storyline, but it is widely believed that it would continue to explore the second half arc of the previous season when it was still on Fox.
Initially, before the network canceled the series, it was meant to have 22 episodes, which were enough for the producers to create two story ideas. However, Netflix gives the show more freedom when it comes to episode count, making the show split up into two seasons.
So, even before Netflix ordered for Lucifer Season 5, the creators already had an idea on how they would continue and end the show. "We did spend some time digging into what we think can be Season 5," showrunner Joe Henderson told ComicBook earlier this year. "We even have the first scene [of Season 5], which is one of my favorite things we've ever come up with."
Fellow showrunner Ildy Modrovich, on the other hand, added they tried to bring the show in a completely different direction. If a fan attempted to speculate one thing, they would alter the story and think of the unthinkable so viewers could expect the unexpected. This way, no one would get bored.
So, what will happen in Lucifer Season 5? There are questions if Charlotte will make an appearance in the last and final season. To recall, she came back from Hell and took over US Attorney Charlotte's body after she got murdered.
From here, she decided to live in a void away from Heaven, Hell, and Earth. However, Marcus (Tom Welling) killed Charlotte, while he was trying to hit on Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) but missed. The latter then brought his mother back to Heaven after she died. So, will she return in the last and final season?
In a Q&A on Twitter, via Express, Woodside revealed he would love to see Charlotte return in Season 5. One of his most favorite scenes included the time when he lost and regained his powers and flew Helfer's character to Heaven.
Does it hint Charlotte's return? Find out when Lucifer Season 5 hits the small screens, probably, in 2020 on Netflix.
