Ryan Murphy's 9-1-1 is returning for another season. 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1 is set to feature several calls that will certainly put the first responders on top into of their game while the marital bliss of newlyweds LAPD patrol sergeant Athena Grant (Angela Bassett) and LAFD Station 118 captain Bobby Nash (Peter Krause) may end sooner than expected.
In 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1 titled "Kids Today," the crew will first respond to a 911 call about a boy that gets stuck in a washing machine. Promotional photos released for the episode shows Hen (Aisha Hinds) helping the kid out of the machine. She was, also, seen in another photo attending to an injured man. It is not clear whether or not the two photos are connected.
The crew will also respond to a case of a car speeding out of control on a freeway, and a routine traffic stop reveals a kidnapping case in the upcoming 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1. Athena is seen in a couple of photos talking to a woman in a handcuff who could be a person of interest in either of these cases.
Meanwhile, 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1 will also reveal the future of firefighter Evan "Buck" Buckley (Oliver Stark). It can be recalled that Buck got injured in Season 2 finale. Showrunner Tim Minear teased that Buck will do something that might further endanger his career.
"Buck is in a place where he's had a real moment of existential crisis. He's going to force his leg to heal, even if it ends up damaging that leg, because the most important thing to him is his life as a firefighter and a first responder," Minear told TV Insider.
Aside from the upcoming 9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1, the series has also prepared nail-biting episodes such as a tsunami hitting the Santa Monica Pier and a call from a terrified girl about his father being a serial killer.
The tsunami episode will feature Buck, who happens to be at the carnival at the pier. As the alarm went off, Buck is seen screaming, "Get off the beach!" while carrying a boy on his shoulder and running to safety.
9-1-1 Season 3 Episode 1 will hit the small screen on September 23 at 8/7c on Fox. Professional wrestler Ronda Rousey will also join the cast this season as Lena Bosko. The WWE star will have a recurring role as a "stoic and fearless" member of the LAFD Station 136.
