Bob and Abishola are the new couple on primetime TV that is expected to make the audience laugh and fell in love all at the same time. But, the CBS latest sitcom, titled Bob Hearts Abishola, will not only feature the romance between the two main characters as it will also showcase the life of first-generation immigrants in the United States today.

Bob Hearts Abishola executive producer Chuck Lorre, however, clarifies that sitcom is not a political show. This is amidst the fact that the series will feature an American man and a Nigerian immigrant and will premiere on the heights of the immigration issues in the country.

"It's an homage of what we've been through, what our ancestors have been through, which is coming here and somehow finding a foothold and making a life for ourselves and for our children and descendants. If you dig deep, maybe every show is a political show. This is just a show that takes the time to recognize the greatness in that endeavor," Lorre said.

Nonetheless, Lorre was seen wearing a yellow hat with the letters "IMAG" written on it while talking about his new show during the recent TCA press tour. CBS News reported that the acronym stands for "Immigrants Make America Great." Lorre is also the man behind the hit sitcoms The Big Bang Theory and Two And A Half Men.

Bob Hearts Abishola follow the life of a 50-year-old businessman from Detroit, Bob (Billy Gardell), who unexpectedly falls in love for his cardiac nurse, Abishola (Folake Olowofoyeku), a Nigerian immigrant. Bob intends to win her over while he recovers from his heart attack.

Aside from Gardell and Olowofoyeku, the cast of Bob Hearts Abishola also includes veteran actress Christine Ebersole, Matthew Lee Jones, Maribeth Monroe, Matt Jones, Shola Adewusi, Barry Shabaka Henley, and Travis Wolfe Jr. The pilot episode will feature the first meeting of Bob and Abishola.

Bob runs his family's highly competitive sock company with his mother, Dottie (Ebersole), his sister, Christine (Monroe), and his younger brother, Douglas (Jones). The stress of the job lands Bob in the hospital where he meets Abishola, who works as a nurse.

After migrating to the U.S, with her son, Abishola lives in a small apartment with her overly protective Auntie Olu (Adewusi) and Uncle Tunde (Henley). This means Abishola is not the only one that Bob needs to convince about his pure intentions but also her relatives.

Bob Hearts Abishola kicked off on September 23 at 8:30 p.m. ET on CBS. The network has already dropped several teasers for the sitcom, and every trailer promises a hilarious show.
