CBS is taking a stand and Bull Season 4 remains on the list of series dedicated for the network's fall premiere. After almost a year of controversies and allegations, the procedural drama series continues to stand still and promises to deliver an all-new season filled with more entertaining and compelling plots.
However, a lot of things will change once the show returns on the network. This is in consideration of the key people who left the show after the huge sexual harassment scandal between Eliza Dushku and Michael Weatherly made the headlines a few months ago.
Just before the third season finale ended, Eliza Dushku spoke about the apparent issue. According to Deadline, the actress revealed that Michael Weatherly made a lot of "disgusting" jokes about her and her appearance. There are also reports stating that the Bull main star offered Dushku to have "threesome" while on set.
These statements are said to be some of the examples Michael Weatherly made toward Eliza Dushku. And after letting the whole world know about his actions, the actress claimed that she is written off from the series for good.
CBS and Michael Weatherly released an official statement. As per TV Line, the network defended Michael and the show. While apologies and explanations were made, Eliza Dushku continued to let her side made known to the public. And after a few weeks, CBS renewed the show and commissioned Bull Season 4.
Reports were also alleging that Dushku settled with Weatherly and CBS amounting to $9.5 million after the commotion. But even so, the whole conundrum resulted in negative impacts for the network and the show.
According to TV Insider, Steven Spielberg, who is an advocate of the #MeToo movement, along with Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, who are all executive producers for the first three seasons, left the show after the controversies.
As for the showrunner, Glenn Gordon Caron, no confirmation has been given yet if he will return for Bull Season 4 to reprise his role. Even so, series creators and other executive producers, Paul Attanasio, Dr. Phil McGraw, and Jay McGraw will return to continue the show with its new season. All of the main cast members of the legal drama series will also return, obviously except for Eliza Dushku.
On Michael Weatherly's defense, some of his previous co-stars, Pauley Perrette and Sasha Alexander, defended him on social media and told the public how they have too much respect for the actor and that they know him for many years now to know that he won't do what he is being accused of.
Bull Season 4 premieres on September 23, on CBS.
