Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's eldest son, Maddox, has finally spoken about the status of his relationship with his father. In a rare clip of the teenage son of Brangelina, Maddox hinted that he has a strained relationship with Pitt.
Maddox, 18, is currently studying Biochemistry in one of the prestigious schools in South Korea. A reporter recently asked him if his father will visit him in SoKor. The question could stem from the fact that Pitt is currently in Tokyo, Japan, to promote his new film, Ad Astra.
"I don't know about that [or what's happening," Maddox replied to the reporter in a video obtained by In Touch Weekly. When asked if his relationship with his dad is over, he simply replied, "Well, whatever happens, happens."
Now, many are wondering how Pitt reacted of his son's statement. Metro reported that the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood actor is in Japan to promote Ad Astra. Pitt was photographed with a smile on his face when he arrived at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation for the press conference for the film.
Coincidentally, his upcoming movie is about a father and son relationship. In the film, Pitt plays the role of astronaut Roy McBride who travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father which was portrayed by Tommy Lee Jones.
On Thursday, The Ellen Show also posted on Instagram a clip of Pitt making a surprise cameo as an audience member on Friday's edition of the show. The episode is believed to be recorded before Maddox's remark.
Meanwhile, Jolie has to issue a comment about Maddox's remarks. Jolie will appear in Maleficent: Mistress of Evil which will kick off in cinemas on October 18. The actress is also set to star in Marvel's The Eternals.
Since Pitt and Jolie announced their separation in 2016, reports about the tension between the actor and Maddox have also emerged. There were reports that the strained relationship begun after a fight while aboard a private jet shortly before Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
In August, it was reported that Maddox doesn't see himself as Pitt's son. In contrast, it has been a public knowledge that Jolie has a very close relationship with her first adoptive child. The Maleficent actress adopted Maddox in 2002 and Pitt became his adoptive father in 2006. The former A-list couple has six children together.
Jolie visited South Korea with Maddox in November 2018 to check out universities where he can pursue higher education. Last month, Angelina accompanied her son in moving to South Korea and even escorting him on his first day at the Yonsei University. Jolie also revealed that she did "ugly cry" when she left Maddox at the university.
