When Ziva reappeared before Gibbs' eyes, many thought that it's quite too good to be true. Some fans have speculated that it might just be one of Gibbs' dreams haunting him.
While these notions may all seem plausible, none of these speculations were confirmed. As it happened, the official teasers and trailers have already debunked these theories. And it has been widely revealed that Ziva is truly alive.
In the later episodes of NCIS Season 16, there are already a few hints about her return. But of course, no one considered this to happen soon. So, when she reappeared in the final moments of the previous installment, it became a huge surprise to the fans.
According to TV Insider, Gibbs might be surprised about her return. But it seems that he had already known for this to happen. Although there are no confirmations yet regarding the matter, it is possible. This theory leads the fans to think that if Gibbs knows all along that Ziva is alive, then Tony might also be aware too.
Michael Weatherly, who plays the role of Tony, left NCIS to focus on his legal drama series, Bull. But even so, his character is still not written off since he is still in the loop.
When Ziva is presumed dead, Tony and their daughter, Tali, left for Paris to move forward with their lives. So even when he is miles away from the NCIS crew, he still gets to be in contact with everyone.
The speculations toward him, knowing about Ziva's true condition is much more strengthened when he "refused" to answer some question during an interview. And as per his statements, he revealed that he is not allowed to talk about it.
Accordingly, it only goes to show that there will be more revelations when NCIS Season 17 premieres. Not to mention, many headlines largely emphasize that all questions surrounding Ziva's character will be answered once the new season arrives.
It is also worth noting that some of the teasers are hinting that the Ziva and Tony may get back together. This is highly likely to happen, especially if the characters will not return for a regular status on the show. But if all things come to a good place, then the family might exit the course of NCIS, happily and for good.
NCIS Season 17 premieres this September 24, on CBS.
