Two months after the previous season ended, fans are now excited for Wentworth Season 8. As Season 7 is now available on Netflix, viewers are wondering when they will get to see the new installment on the small screens and the streaming giant. As Foxtel remain mum about what's coming to the series, here is everything we know so far.
The show began airing on Netflix in 2015. Since then, the streaming network has released a new season every year. It even helps the show to popularity, making it big not just in Australia but all over the world. It also ranks in the top 50 TV series on Netflix list.
According to What's on Netflix, Wentworth Season 8 has begun its production this September. It is set to have 20 episodes, although it remains to be seen if the number of episodes will be split into two seasons, given that it is already renewed for Season 9, which may be out in 2021. So, when will the next installment be out?
As Foxtel has yet to announce its official release date in Australia, it is still unknown when it will be out on Netflix. As Season 7 ended in July, it is expected to return on the air in its home country in the middle of 2020 and on the streaming service soon after.
In the previous seasons, Netflix started to air the latest installments after the series finale aired. Season 7 came out on the media services provider on July 31, a day after its final episode was out on Foxtel on July 30. If the new season follows suit, it may be available for streaming in August 2020.
Decider noted that, although Foxtel has yet to reveal when the new season would be out, fans have an idea when it would be released based on its history. Four out of seven seasons premiered in May, while the previous installment was also out in the same month. Season 5 and 6 were released in April 2017 and June 2018, respectively.
So, with these dates, Wentworth Season 8 may probably be out in the spring of 2020. If our guess is right, Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) and the rest of the gang will be back on the small screens in May next year.
However, there are questions if Wentworth Season 8 will also be available in other regions. The show may be out in either November or December 2020 on Netflix Canada. Netflix UK and Netflix Australia, on the other hand, never include the series on its contents, as Australians can stream the show on Foxtel.
