SBS is setting its sights high for Vagabond, its latest action drama featuring Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae. According to the members of the cast, the drama is seeking to breach the 30 percent rating mark to set the record for the highest-rated drama.
During a recent press conference, the Vagabond cast and crew fielded questions about the big-budget action series, which even shot in Morocco for two months. Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae received a lot of praise for their professionalism from PD Yoo In Shik, Soompi reported.
The director also praised the entire cast for the great working relationship they developed overseas where they also got to spend time on and off cam and developed friendships that would extend until the work is done.
Lee Seung Gi expressed gratitude to SBS and the production because even though the network spent $21.1 million on the action-packed drama, he never felt burdened by the pressure but felt that he was in a place where he could solely focus on his acting.
The actor added that his character is unique even though he has done action roles before. He said that his character is about a regular person who finds himself in the middle of a conspiracy as his nephew dies.
Suzy also teased that her character's relationship with Lee Seung Gi's character. According to Suzy, her character will go through an interesting evolution from the time she is dispatched to Morocco until the end of the series.
It was cast member Shin Sung Rok who expressed confidence that Vagabond will surpass any other Korean drama.
"I think this project will do really well. I experienced a lot of things I've never done before, and while I was on set, I thought to myself that this drama would be on a whole new level. Our goal for viewership ratings is 30 percent. If we get 30 percent, the actors will discuss and come up with a special event," he said.
Most Kdrama fans are looking forward to Vagabond because this is a reunion project between Lee Seung Gi and Suzy Bae after they worked together in the highly successful Gu Family Book, reported Yonhap News reported.
"This series is a spy action drama from beginning to end. There are large-scale action scenes like car stunts and shoot-outs throughout the 16 episodes," Lee Seung Gi assured.
