In less than a week, New Amsterdam Season 2 will be once again seen on TV after the previous season ended with a huge cliffhanger. Its three major characters, Dr. Max Goodwin (Ryan Eggold), Dr. Helen Sharpe (Freema Agyeman), and Dr. Lauren Bloom (Janet Montgomery), are on the line. Now, it is a big question who will survive in the series after that tragic ambulance crash.

There are theories that one of the three principal characters is going to meet its demise in the premiere episode. So, who will be it? According to showrunner David Schulner, fans have to thoroughly scan each scene if there is a character missing from the picture after they revealed who stays alive.

"We'll slowly reveal who lived, and then you'll start to definitely see who's missing from the cast as the [episode] continues," he told TVLine. In New Amsterdam Season 2 trailer, Max revealed the premiere episode would begin a few months after the previous season finale.

From there, it would show flashback scenes from the past and return to the present. By the looks of it, the show will slowly reveal who didn't make it in the second season. If fans notice someone is missing, then, most probably, it is the one who died. There are even predictions that it will only be revealed at the end of the episode.

Meanwhile, there are hints that Helen's mysterious whereabouts and condition "has been somewhat solved." After getting involved in the ambulance crash, along with Lauren, Max, his wife, Georgia (Lisa O'Hare) and newborn daughter, Helen, went missing.

However, the latest New Amsterdam Season 2 trailer teases Helen has survived the incident, but in pain. Helen can be heard screaming and hurting and seems to be suffering from some serious injuries. Hence, it is yet to be revealed what medical issues she has suffered.

Lauren and Georgia, on the other hand, were seen to be in worse shape than Helen. Someone, too, is "distraught and bloody" as Max looks on. Despite the short time jump, the premiere episode will reveal the aftermath of the incident.

"And then we're going to go back in time and see the see the accident play out in real-time from when the finale left off," Schulner added. New Amsterdam Season 2 is set to be out on Tuesday, Sept. 24, at 10/9c on NBC. Its premiere episode will bear the title "Your Turn," revealing Max will work hard to find the new normal after the ambulance crash.
