YG Entertainment called out unruly fans who mobbed iKON at the Kansai International Airport and issued a warning that they can be restricted from future events if they continue with their dangerous behavior.
YG's statement came after videos surfaced of iKON's arrival at the Kansai airport in Japan for their scheduled performance in Osaka. The video showed the combined forces of iKON's security detail and airport personnel trying to shield the members from the mob of fans, who were trying to get close to them as they came out from the arrival area, All Kpop reported.
In one video, a fan was forcibly trying to get Bobby to accept a gift that she ended up smacking the artist's face with a stuffed toy. Security members had no choice but to drag the iKON members along as quickly as possible to get them out of the airport before it escalates.
In their statement, YG Entertainment cautioned fans against chasing their artists at the airport because it could be dangerous not only for the artists but also for other people since the airport is considered a public place.
"If the same situation as yesterday would be repeated, the artists won't be able to use public transportation and to visit Japan. In the future, if there are people who do such behaviors causing safety issues, we will strictly restrict them to participate in any events or activities related to iKON (sic)," YG warned.
iKON members Bobby, Jay, Ju-ne, Song, DK, and Chan, are, currently, in Japan for their iKON Japan Tour, which is expected to conclude its final show tonight at Osaka's Kyocera Dome. The group has sold out the major venue, receiving strong support from fans despite the challenges the group has been experiencing since the departure of their leader, B.I.
It was recently reported that B.I had been booked as a suspect for a violation to Korea's Narcotics Act, which covers the possession, use, and distribution of illegal drugs after he admitted to some suspicion when questioned for 14 hours by authorities. B.I was initially invited as a person with information about the case after a Kakao Talk conversation between himself and a person, identified as A, was made public several months ago. In the conversation, it was shown that B.I was inquiring about how to purchase marijuana, Soompi reported.
Upon the release of the report, B.I decided to leave iKON to protect his former co-members from being embroiled in his controversy. He also terminated his exclusive contract with YG Entertainment at the time.
