Netflix dropped Insatiable last year and it became one of the most controversial shows, with some accusing the series of fat-shaming. But despite the mixed reactions from viewers, Insatiable season 2 was renewed by the streaming platform. And now, the second installment gets its official release date and it is set to come back soon with more twists and turns.
Recently, Netflix confirmed Insatiable season 2 will premiere on Friday, October 11. The filming of the second installment concluded back in June, as series lead star Debby Ryan shared via Twitter "the emotional gymnastics of shooting a finale." In May, the actress also hinted she might be directing one of the episodes of the second season.
According to JustJared Jr, Ryan shared on her Instagram story a photo of her chair -- labeled with her character's name, Patty Bladell -- which was framed next to the director's chair and the actress' pillow was laying over both chairs. The caption further sparked speculations, as Ryan wrote: "directs a hit Netflix show." While that remains speculation, it's confirmed the actress will reprise her role in the second season.
As for the other returning characters in Insatiable season 2, Dallas Roberts (as Bob Armstrong, Jr.), Christopher Gorham (Bob Barnard), Sarah Colonna (Angie Bladell), Erinn Westbrook (Magnolia Barnard), Michael Provost (Brick Armstrong), and Alyssa Milano (Coralee Huggins) are all expected to come back. There is no news at the moment if the upcoming installment will introduce new characters as well.
Created by Lauren Gussis, Insatiable is a dark comedy-drama series that follows teenager Patty Bladwell, who gets bullied for being overweight. But after a bullying incident, Patty's jaw has been wired shut and she was forced to go on a liquid diet over the summer vacation. Everyone in the school was shocked to see the amount of weight she lost, and Patty used her newfound attention to seek revenge on those who bullied her and launched her pageant career.
In Insatiable season 2, Patty will face more controversies and it will be revealed if she's really killed Stella Rose or not. Also, the car with Christian's body failed to sink, so the police could find the body leading to a murder investigation. Patty will be vulnerable in the upcoming installment, as her past will continue to haunt her and her struggles to be good is becoming harder each day as she battles her inner demon.
