It's been a few weeks since the fans witnessed the series finale of Poldark on BBC One. While the ending is quite heartbreaking yet satisfying, it left a huge cliffhanger that made the fans even more eager to obtain new installments of the show.
As per The Guardian's detailed recap and review of the series finale, it was "stressful" and "maddening." Aside from the fact that it will be already the last of the show, the ending itself was compelling that it stirred a mixture of emotions.
When Demelza learned Ross' secret plans to clear his name out, she ended up manipulating the whole scenario for the advantage of Ross. It was all intense and dramatic. And, when things all settled down, the couple began to tie all loose ends by saying goodbye to each other.
At the top of the Cornwall hill, the couple bid their final goodbyes to each other. With Ross' decision to leave his family behind, it became a very dramatic and heartbreaking scene for everyone. But, of course, this was nothing to Demelza's hopeful claims that Ross will return one day as it gave the fans new hope as well.
With these transitions at hand, many fans are now convinced that this part of the ending largely hints that Ross and Demelza will reunite in the future. And it gives away the idea that new doors will open for their characters. But, does it mean that Poldark will get a new season or even a spin-off?
When the series was renewed for a fifth season in 2018, it was largely stressed out that it will already serve as the final run. And quite obviously, the fans were a bit shocked with the news. Many have claimed that the series decided to end things for good due to its apparent decline in terms of viewership records. But, with all of the speculations, nothing was confirmed up to this writing.
It was only recently when things started to take huge turns. Upon witnessing the finale, the fans' hope for a new season grew even more.
While the majority is expecting a Poldark Season 6, some are clinging into the idea that the show might branch out a spin-off or even a film in the future. Others, however, are not expecting the characters' return on screens. But, they are quite hopeful that the novel series will continue the events where the show has ended its course.
It is worth noting though that these are just speculations made by the fandom. So, unless the producers or writers confirm any of these things, the fans will just need to accept that Poldark will no longer return.
