When Blue Bloods Season 10 premieres in the next few weeks, a new face will join the cast. Unforgettable star Dylan Walsh is confirmed to become New York's newly elected Mayor.
His character is revealed to be a "pragmatic" one, who rose up to power because of his skills and instincts. While being raised in a middle-class family, he became a successful businessman. And taking a seat in the government is his way to "give back."
As the new Mayor, he will be seen in the new season from time to time. Even so, Dylan Walsh will not play a regular character. According to Deadline, Blue Bloods Season 10 will welcome him in his recurring role. However, no one knows yet if he'll be staying for good.
There are reports, recently, claiming that the cancellation of his ABC series titled, Whiskey Cavalier, is the main reason why he accepted the recurring role. Although it's possible, these claims are not confirmed yet as of this writing.
Walsh's arrival in the lives of the Reagans is a wildcard. No one knows yet if he'll be a good leader, especially to the force. TV Insider asserted that Frank would possibly go head-to-head with the new mayor. This is not a new thing anymore given his previous "clashes" with the people in power.
Frank's possible clash with the new character might also be fueled when Dylan Walsh's Mayor approaches Erin for her career advancement. It is hinted that tension will probably rise as the new Mayor would offer his support to Erin's "moving up" as the new District Attorney.
Per Cartermatt, Erin will enter Blue Bloods Season 10 as the right hand of the District Attorney. With her new position, there are clues that this will affect her relationships, especially with her family. And with the new Mayor's offer to become the next District Attorney, everything might come into chaos if she chooses to accept.
It is worth noting though that Erin is not yet sure whether to accept the offer or not. As per her character's notions, there is a definite fine line between working "with" and working "for." And she does not know which of the two will be the case when she accepts the job.
These revelations will be further elaborated when Blue Bloods Season 10 arrives. It is not entirely known if Dylan Walsh will already be in the first episode. But, Erin and the rest of Reagans will have that dinner as always -- that's for sure.
Blue Bloods Season 10 will start to drop new episodes starting on September 27, on CBS.
