Anne With an E season 3 has finally started its run on CBC in Canada last Sept. 22. Fans of the series around the world, however, can expect the new episodes to drop on Netflix by Jan. 3, 2020.

The streaming platform confirmed that all 10 episodes of Anne With an E season 3 will be ready after the New Year's celebration in a video tweet. Amybeth McNulty (as Anne) and Lucas Jade Zumann (as Gilbert) were featured in the video to announce the Netflix release date happily.

Viewers in Canada, on the other hand, can keep watching new episodes of Anne With an E season 3 every week until the end of November. The show picks up with Anne just turning 16 years old.

Anne With an E season 3 has introduced a new character with an indigenous background. Viewers from Canada have already met Ka'kwet (played by Kiawenti:io Tarbell), a Mi'kmaq girl who becomes friends with Anne in the first episode.

Creator Moira Walley-Beckett told TV-Eh that it was always in the plan to introduce a person from an indigenous background in the series to reflect just how much diverse the source material, which was written by L.M. Montgomery. She said that the Mi'kmaq tribe was vital to Prince Edward Island in the novels. So, it was crucial that they also include their story in Anne With an E season 3.

The timing seems right as well as Anne will be going on a quest this season to learn more about her identity. Her story will intertwine with the Ka'kwet, who is very aware of who she is. Aside from the search for her identity, the third season will also highlight stories that are as important today, such as bullying, gender parity, and feminism, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Walley-Beckett also said that Anne With an E season 3 will find the children "stepping into young adulthood" both in the story and in real life. Netflix viewers will likely be surprised that a lot of the young stars have grown taller and more mature this season.

Meanwhile, CBC and Netflix have not yet officially announced Anne With an E season 4. Curiously, however, the video post showed the cast filming on the set when the third season has been completed early this year. In 2018, CBC and Netflix confirmed the show's third season renewal in August and production commenced in the fall. Fans of this coming-of-age drama may hear the good news from the networks real soon.
