Martin Odegaard has a lot to look forward to. He remains the youngest player that Real Madrid had ever signed up, and while on loan, Odegaard is proving consistently he is worth the trust and money. Now the lure of transfer to Manchester United and Liverpool might be tempting, but the Norwegian is firm on his decision - he'll stick with his Real Madrid contract.
Odegaard, in fact, is not thinking that he'll end up anytime soon in any of the English teams said to be serious in acquiring him. In his mind, the focus is to one day return to the club that saw his potentials and apparently continues to trust him.
"He wants to play again for Real Madrid," ESPN said in a report.
At the moment, Odegaard plays with Real Sociedad, Madrid's La Liga rival, and he is flourishing. He was voted as player of the month in August because there's no denying "he is playing brilliantly." The plan is to stay where he is right now and continue honing his skills.
"My intention is to stay [at Sociedad] two years, and I think that's important for me, too ... To have some stability is good [and] this is a great club, and hopefully we can get European football for next season," Odegaard said.
It appears that what Odegaard has been doing did not go unnoticed. He is reaping the rewards of hard work and the right attitude.
"His contract with Real Madrid was recently extended until 2022. He has no thoughts of signing elsewhere," ESPN added on its report.
The decision by Real Madrid seems a good investment. So far, Odegaard's La Liga stint can only be characterized as nothing short of impressive and he now counts two goals in six appearances, the Mirror reported.
It was inevitable that the young Norwegian will only gain more supporters, and catch the attention of other clubs and not only in Spain.
Still, Odegaard is not even thinking of making a jump from La Liga to the Premier League. It might be exciting to imagine with legendary clubs such as the Red Devils and Liverpool, but for Odegaard, Real Madrid is the ultimate goal.
The Spanish club is the best club in the world, and they will only sign up players on top of their games, which is the level Odegaard is gunning to be.
"I'm dreaming to be the best I can be. You never know what happens in football but my dream, and what I'm hoping for is to play for Madrid," the Norwegian said.
