There is a lot on Alice Braga's plate right now. Queen Of The South, in which he plays the titular character, has been renewed for another season in August. Then, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn confirmed recently that Braga is among the new cast members in the upcoming Suicide Squad 2.

USA Network renewed Queen of the South for another season as the series wrapped its fourth installment. In Season 4 finale, fans were surprised by James Valdez's (Peter Gadiot) return. Though viewers are thrilled about his huge comeback, many also expressed concern because he also delivered a warning to Teresa Mendoza (Braga) that there are people who are coming after her.

Showrunner Ben Lobato earlier teased that Tony's (Julian Silva) death in Season 4 is a turning point for the series protagonist, and James' return will play an important role in Season 5. The new teaser for Queen of the South Season 5 suggests that Teresa will finally reign as a queen. It looks like she will forge a deal with the Russian cartel as she was seen meeting with them in the trailer.

It can be recalled that in Season 4, Teresa expressed interest in working with the cartel from New York to expand her business. Amidst the stern warning from her men that it's a dangerous move, Teresa seems to be adamant of her decision.

USA Network has yet to announce when the production for the fifth installment will commence. Queen Of The South Season 5 is expected to premiere in summer 2020. The first three seasons of the series are currently available on Netflix.

Meanwhile, the production of Suicide Squad 2 has already begun at Pinewood in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 23. Original cast members Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, and Viola Davis are all reprising their roles as Harley Quinn, Rick Flag, Captain Boomerang, and Amanda Waller, respectively.

Aside from Alice Braga, other new cast members include Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, John Cena, Taika Waititi, Nathan Fillion, Michael Rooker, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior, and more. Warner Bros. has been keeping the plot of the movie under wraps as well as the characters that the new cast members will be playing except for some.

It has been reported that Dastmalchian is set to play Polka-Dot Man while Rooker will be the King Shark, and Melchior would portray Ratcatcher. Elba is not replacing Will Smith as Deadshot. The Thor actor will instead portray a different character.

Suicide Squad 2 is expected to be released in August 2021. Keep it here in Business Times for updates on the character that Alice Braga will be playing in Suicide Squad 2.
