When it comes to natural treatments that can be used to improve one's beauty, glow, and youthfulness, honey is one of those most powerful products most people use. Naturally extracted from bee colonies, this thick golden liquid produced from the combined efforts of hundreds of bees promises a lot of benefits once included in your daily beauty routine.

"Raw honey is incredible for your skin thanks to its antibacterial properties and hefty serving of skin-saving antioxidants," shares Kim Wallace, a natural beauty expert. This product can also be used as a key ingredient for several treatments such as masks, anti-acne creams, facial cleansers, and exfoliators. All these can make your skin gain its youthfulness in no time, as revealed by She Knows.

Unfortunately, not all honey that is sold in the market nowadays is pure. Often, these products are just full of sugar and additives that won't be beneficial for your skin. So, how can we filter those that are pure and those that are not? Nature's Apothecary shared some ways to determine whether the honey is pure or not.

THE WATER TEST.

Honey tends to have a more dense texture than water. Given this, pure honey doesn't easily dissolve in water, but fake and adulterated ones do.

In a glass of water, pour about one teaspoon of honey. Observe what will happen to it next. If your honey has dissolved and mixed with water easily, then, the product you have is fake or adulterated. If your honey just settled right at the bottom of the glass undissolved, then you are sure you got the pure one.

THE THUMB TEST.

Furthermore, because of its more dense property, honey is more compact and doesn't spread and flow like other liquid. For this reason, once poured onto a surface, it tends to stick together for a longer period.

To conduct the thumb test, the only thing you have to do is pour a bit of honey in your thumb's nail, wait for a couple of minutes, and observe what will happen next. If your honey sticks in your nail's surface without dripping fast, then it must be pure. If not, it is fake.

Aside from the water test and the thumb test, there are still several ways to know whether you got pure honey or not. These tests include the flame test and the laboratory test. Of all these tests, the most accurate is the one conducted in the laboratory, as it gives the most detailed result.
