Former Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri is rumored to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer if the latter is fired by Manchester United. Reports said the Italian would want to bring with him a new coaching staff headed by Patrice Evra, himself a legend on account of his stint with the Red Devils.
Allegri and Evra have collaborated in the past and Juventus and won honors. The former it seemed is looking to repeat history should he makes the jump to United. At present, the Italian is out of work after stepping down from his managerial duties at Juventus.
According to The Mirror, "Allegri has been linked with the top job at Old Trafford in recent weeks." But the same report noted that Solskjaer appeared safe on his job following the vote of confidence given to him by the United board.
The Daily Mail said Allegri is in consideration as a future replacement for Solskjaer in the event the hierarchy at the Old Trafford had a change of heart. And that happening is not unlikely as United only won two matches out of eight Premier League appearances.
The Red Devils sit at the number 12 on the league right now and just a few points shy of being relegated, the report added.
If the Italian gets to replace the Norwegian, the former would want Evra to join him. The Frenchman donned the United jersey from 2006 to 2014.
The Mirror said the former Red Devils appeared more than interested in a return to Old Trafford. He had been posting hints on social media that he is prepared to help if Allegri takes over from Solskjaer and adds him to the coaching staff.
"I think it's time to get our hands dirty! Manchester United board, are you ready to let us help you guys?" Evra was reported as saying.
Another appointment that supposedly Allegri seems to eye is that of Marco Landucci, who served as the Italian's deputy at Juventus, the Express reported.
In the same report, Express said the likelihood of Allegri managing United soon will energize the struggling club. The Reds are rebuilding and to be sure the new boss will continue the work of finding talents that will bring the club to its former glory.
With the Italian leading the way, it is predicted that United will soon head to the path taken by Liverpool. The latter had decided to rebuild and is now reaping the benefits of leading the Premier League.
