Tesla now reigns the as the primary producer of mass market electric vehicles and in the process made the whole world a better place with the Model 3 along with its other impressive models. With CEO Elon Musk holding the reigns, the company's outrageous ambition of expanding its automotive line isn't really a surprise.
Already, Tesla has some pretty interesting vehicles in its product line, including the Tesla Semi, a next-gen Roadster, and the Model Y. You'd think Musk couldn't get more outrageous, but the CEO also has plans for an all-electric pickup truck, which the electric automaker has been teasing fans for quite a while.
Musk tweeted something about the company's "cybertruck" over the weekend, assuring fans of the November launch. It's exciting news, but Tesla has not always been consistent when it comes to company schedules, so there's a little concern but certainly a lot of hope it will push through.
Perhaps what's more interesting is the fact that Musk also described what the vehicle could look like, which in his own words is an "armored personnel carrier from the future." So like an armored military car then? It's certainly intriguing to say the least.
Cybertruck doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen bouncing around the Internet. It’s closer to an armored personnel carrier from the future. — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 14, 2019
Armored personal carriers or APCs are military vehicles that have played a huge role since the World War I. Unlike other infantry fighting vehicles or tanks we commonly see in war movies, APCs are primarily designed less as an offensive vehicle and more on carrying passengers. In fact, it can accommodate up to a dozen passengers or more.
With this fact, some keen artists posted sketches of what Tesla's cybertruck may look like, and one designed that particularly stood was that of Emre Husmen, whose clients include Fiat and Ford, and well, Tesla.
Musk said last year that its upcoming pickup truck will feature some "crazy torque and a suspension that dynamically adjusts for load," boasting a dual motor all-wheel drive. The CEO also mentioned that that its all-electric truck could feature power outlets to accommodate those keen on heavy-duty power tools.
By November, we'll have all the specs for sure. For now, though, we'll have to wait and see if the pickup truck will indeed have a 400-500 mile range.
