The Orville season 3 found a new home and it's now moving from Fox to Hulu. During the San Diego Comic-Con 2019, series creator Seth MacFarlane announced the series will no longer air on Fox, and it will be moving to Hulu for the third season instead. And now, here's everything you need to know about the upcoming installment.

The official release date of The Orville season 3 was not yet revealed. The first season arrived on Fox in September 2017, while the second one premiered in December 2018. So, the official air date of the third installment is hard to predict, especially now that it's moving to Hulu.

But after the series was moved to the platform, MacFarlane said The Orville evolved and became more ambitious production-wise. He revealed that he wouldn't be able to deliver episodes until 2020, and this is a big challenge for Fox. Thus, as noted by Digital Spy, the new season will likely arrive in the latter half of next year.

Meanwhile, viewers will meet a new character when The Orville season 3 arrives. Deadline reported 13 Reasons Why's actress Anne Winters is set as a series regular on the third installment, and she will be playing the role of Charly Burke. No further details revealed about Winters' character, as well as how she would fit into the existing characters.

Other returning cast members include MacFarlane (as Captain Ed Mercer), Adrianne Palicki, (Commander Kelly Grayson), Penny Johnson Jerald (Doctor Claire Finn), Scott Grimes (Lieutenant Gordon Malloy), Peter Macon (Lieutenant Commander Bortus), J Lee ( Lieutenant Commander John LaMarr), Mark Jackson (Isaac), Chad L. Coleman (Klyden), and Jessica Szohr (Lieutenant Talla Keyali).

The plot of The Orville season 3 is also unknown as well. But, executive producer David Goodman previously said he would like to delve into the fallout from Isaac's decisions, which was shown in The Orville season 2 episodes 8 and 9. He said they didn't do any repercussions for what Isaac did, so this is one of the main questions in the third installment.

In a report via the Trek Movie, Goodman also revealed they will still be doing standalone episodes. In addition, he discussed other questions viewers might have after watching season 2. He noted that some things in the first couple of episodes in the third season will explain some events and will answer questions viewers may have at the beginning of the second season.

In another related report, cast members share some behind-the-scenes moments. The official Twitter account of the series shared a video and confirmed that production for The Orville season 3 is underway. The clip featured Grimes and other cast members while working on everything that needs to be done -- such as getting the set designed together, designing the Molcans, and other fancy stuff that makes the show special.
