Chris Lee has been promoted as series regular in Legacies season 2. The actor has been part of the first season, but with only a minimal role. In addition, the second installment will also introduce a new recurring character and will be played by Olivia Liang.
Lee plays the role of Kaleb. He is a vampire rebel who is not keen on hiding who he really is. Before being promoted as series regular in Legacies season 2, the actor doesn't play a huge part in the series. With his permanent role, this is a hint that there's more about his character that's worth exploring.
Meanwhile, Olivia Liang is the latest recurring character in Legacies season 2. She will play the role of Alyssa Chang; a "Salvatore School student witch and infamous instigator of drama among her peers." The character is also described as egotistical, snarky, and intelligent.
Alyssa is the main character in her mind and will never back down from challenges or misses an excuse to show off. Based on the character's description, she could possibly be a threat to other main characters -- though not the Big Bad, but a rival instead.
In another report, Riley Voelkel will be making her debut in one of the episodes of Legacies season 2 this month. Titled "That's Nothing I Had to Remember," the November 21 episode will see the actress back as Freya Mikaelson, though other details about her return remain scarce. But in the episode's synopsis, she receives an unexpected visit from one of the Salvatore Students.
Speaking with TVLine, executive producer Julie Plec said Voelkel was happy to be anywhere within the series and will do anything to help anybody out. In fact, the actress is willing to go from shooting Roswell to shooting Legacies in the same week.
Plec also said they felt great to have the actress back in the family, and it would be a great story. Voelkel's Freya was last seen in the series finale of The Originals in 2018. She is also the latest star from The Vampire Diaries universe to make an appearance in Legacies.
Other actors who previously appeared in the spin-off include Jodi Lyn O'Keefe, (aka Josette Laughlin), made a ghostly return during the 16th birthday of the Saltzman twins; Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan) as the new sheriff of Mystic Fall; Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert), appeared to save Rafael and Landon from a werewolf hunter; and Demetrius Bridges (Dorian Williams), who guest star in all three shows.
