Apple silently launched the 16-Inch MacBook Pro recently with a plethora of upgrades and major improvements, particularly in the graphics and keyboard segment. Microsoft also unveiled the new Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 with an optional AMD processor-run configuration. In this article, we compare the $2,399 16-Inch MacBook Pro with Intel Core i7 against the $2,799 Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 with AMD Ryzen 7.
The single-core Geekbench 5 performance of the 16-inch MacBook Pro is 1105 while the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 is 882. In multi-core performance, the 16-inch MacBook Pro scored 5651 while the Surface Laptop 3 scored 3401. When it comes to GPU performance, the 3D Mark Fire Strike benchmark cores for AMD Radeon 5300M and AMD Radeon RX Vega 11 GPUs, the Apple premium laptop scored 8492 while the Surface Laptop 3 scored 3019.
The benchmarks that Laptop Mag reported, which includes measuring speed and copying files, the solid state drive in the 16-inch MacBook Pro is nearly eight times faster than the Surface Laptop 3. Apple's premium laptop scored 2,224 Mbps while Surface Laptop 3 scored 282.7 Mbps. This is not entirely a case about speed but rather the speed of the SSD that Microsoft placed.

It is worth noting that benchmarks do not all the time reflect the real-world performance of the device. However, these figures are indicators of what the user can expect from a device when compared against another. Based on the figures, there is no doubt that the 16-inch MacBook Pro from Apple offers much better performance per dollar compared to Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.
The Redmond-based tech giant has interestingly made odd compromises with its latest Surface Laptop model, particularly in terms of the slow solid-state drive, says wccftech. This does not justify the cost that Microsoft is charging for its premium laptop. It can be recalled that Microsoft claimed that the Surface Laptop 3 would outperform the 16-inch MacBook Pro by 70 percent.
In the end, the choice lies in the user. If they prefer larger screen-size, maximum value, and have a budget of around $2000+, the 16-inch Macbook Pro is a no-brainer. But, for hardcore Windows fans, there are better alternatives like Dell, Lenovo, HP, and Razer, who offer better-performing systems for premium prices.
