For several months already, Arsenal supporters have been demanding that the Gunners sack Unai Emery. The Arsenal hierarchy has given him a chance after chance to prove that he is still the right person for the job. But, a new report claims that Arsenal staff is currently bracing themselves for the anticipated 'sack' announcement of the Spanish coach.
The reign of Unai Emery in Arsenal has taken a turn for the worse with the club failing to win its last six games in all competitions. Arsenal Head of Football Raul Sanllehi has been very vocal for the past weeks of the hierarchy's support to the Spanish coach. Recently, however, reports claim that along with other top executives, Sanllehi called for a crisis meeting with the 48 years old Arsenal head coach.
Earlier, several sites claimed that Arsenal had given Unai Emery three more games before the club finally comes up with a decision about his job at the Emirates. However, there were speculations that the hierarchy's decision to stick with the Spanish coach could have a lousy implication for the future of the club. One of the fears of the top executives is that their decision might trigger the mass departure of key Arsenal players.
Reports have it that although some board members are sticking with the Spanish coach, there are several who would like to remove him from the club immediately. This growing dissension on the board is also another reason why an imminent announcement of Emery's departure from the club is possible. Additionally, Daily Mail previously reported that Arsenal players lost their faith to Unai Emery and no longer thought that he can salvage the club from its present situation.
Players reportedly dislike the way Emery runs the club. They find him too conservative, and he allegedly stripped the club of its identity and culture. Moreover, the Spanish coach reportedly assigned players more advanced tasks, which has so far yielded nothing positive for the club.
But, while Arsenal staff thinks Unai Emery is getting sacked, the 48 years old football manager thinks otherwise. In one of his recent statements shared by Express Sport, he said that the club is behind him, and everyone responsible in that area is supporting him. Emery also shared that his job is to prepare for the upcoming matches. However, he admitted that he needed to change the situation at the Emirates.
Emery also noticed that his players were short of confidence and needed to improve. He also claimed that Arsenal players believe in his tactics and have shown that faith in the field. Arsenal is reportedly considering Wolves' Nuno Espirito Santo, Mikel Arteta, and Mauricio Pochettino as Unai Emery's replacements.
