The Cupertino tech juggernaut Apple is reportedly looking into bundling its next-generation smartphones with its premium earbuds. The new report comes from the hit or miss publication Digitimes. If this is accurate, consumers could purchase iPhone 12 models bundled with Apple AirPods in 2020.
Smartphone vendors, including Xiaomi, Samsung, and Apple are considering on bundling their upcoming smartphone models with TWS earbuds in 2020, Digitimes reveals citing unnamed industry insiders. For the uninitiated, TWS is the term for truly wireless stereo earphones like the Samsung Galaxy Buds and the Apple AirPods.
While the report is interesting, MacRumors claims that it is skeptical about it. Apple AirPods has a starting price of around $159, and Apple would not release this costly accessory along with iPhone 12 models without spiking the price of its flagship smartphone as well. Also, not all reports released by DigiTimes are accurate. In this case, we suggest taking this information with a pinch of salt.
Apple AirPods are very popular these days, and considering that Apple has already advised its suppliers to double the production volume, and has even sourced out from other suppliers, you can just imagine the swelling demand. It is impractical for the Cupertino tech juggernaut to give a pair away as a freebie of iPhone 12 considering its demand in the market. Apple may be doing the bundling package if they want to ride with the popularity of the AirPods, but the iPhone is already popular on its own, so it just does not make sense.
It can be recalled that for some time, Apple has included the basic wired earbuds in the box with iPhone releases. But, those pair of earbuds cost Apple only a little and retails around $29 a pair. It makes sense if Digitimes is referring to this kind of bundle instead of the premium AirPods. It is interesting to note, however, that AirPods are said to be the best selling truly wireless earphones in the world, and bundling them with the equally popular iPhone 12 would only expand that lead.

If the recent claim happens, we could only imagine AirPods to be bundled with the higher-priced iPhone 12 models. Maybe those variants that come with Samsung Y-Octa tech display.
