Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain has been long rumored as a transfer target of Liverpool, but the possibility of the striker moving to the Premier League seemed remote. The 20-year-old is more likely to make a leap heading to Spain, and for the reason that can be considered a career move.

The plan by Liverpool is to beef further up a roster that is already on top of the Premier League table. One name that consistently pops up as a possible blockbuster acquisition for the English club is that of Mbappe.

According to Express, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has always been vocal on his admiration of the young PSG striker, and the praises that the German has been heaping on the player only fired up the talks of a planned transfer move. It can happen anytime soon.

However, Klopp could find it hard to convince Mbappe that donning the Liverpool jersey would be the best decision he'll ever make, according to Stephen Warnock, who was a defender at Anfield.

To his understanding, Warnock said Mbappe is a solid contender for the Ballon d'Or honor, and he just might take home a trophy in the coming seasons. But the striker winning the award will depend on what teams he played for, and as the trend would show, the winners usually come from Spain-based clubs.

That would mean a footballer gunning for the Ballon would have to play in La Liga, as proven by the upcoming win of Lionel Messi, who is a Barcelona superstar.

So it follows that if Mbappe would exit PSG, Liverpool will only be part of his options. His preference would be any of Barcelona or Real Madrid. The two Spanish clubs have the most players with the Ballon honor attached to their names.

Mbappe choosing Liverpool is not really surprising as the club has been in top form under Klopp, but Ballon waving at the striker seemed to be a greater priority.

"I think the one problem we face over here with players like that is they often feel like they can only win the Ballon d'Or if they go to Real Madrid or Barcelona," Warnock said, according to Tribal Football.

Warnock added that the only thing that could prompt Mbappe to reconsider his options would be the actual form of Real and Barca. If the Spanish giants were deemed unable to win the Champions League, then the PSG striker could look elsewhere when the time comes to leave Paris.

Warnock said he is convinced Mbappe would love to experience football in England, and for sure, Liverpool would be on top of his list.
