Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want everyone to feel loved and appreciated this Christmas. So, for December, the Sussex couple are following just 12 charities on social media that focus on helping the lonely, the hungry and the homeless who could be spending the holiday without anyone by their side.
In a post on Instagram, Prince Harry and Meghan said that this is a very special time of the year to help the less fortunate around by showing small acts of kindness. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also said thanks to the 12 organizations that have been making a difference and doing good for the community.
Prince Harry and Meghan also asked their followers to post what inspired them to do something good for the people around them. They asked those who replied also to share the flag of their country. So far, the post has received over 132,000 reactions and nearly 3,400 comments as of press time.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Meghan are currently in the United States for the holidays. According to royal reporter Omid Scobie via the podcast The HeirPod, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, including their baby boy Archie Harrison, are with close friends and family members for Thanksgiving, the U.S. holiday.
This is why Meghan Markle was not present when President Donald Trump visited Buckingham Palace on Dec. 3, along with other Heads of States, for the NATO Summit. This is the second time the duchess has skipped meeting Trump face-to-face since she was also not at the State Dinner last June while she was on maternity leave.
Prince Harry and Meghan are also not expected to join the royal family for Christmas day at the Queen's estate in Sandringham. Instead, the Sussex couple will be celebrating their first Christmas with baby Archie by themselves as well.
It is believed that Prince Harry and Meghan will be with Doria Ragland, Meghan Markle's mom, for the rest of their holiday. Sources from the palace said that the duke and duchess needed this time off especially after the controversies they had to endure over the last few months with their fight with the British tabloid press.
Prince Harry and Meghan are expected to return to their royal duties right after Christmas. Although, the trip to America might also include a search for a house since the Sussexes reportedly plans to have at least two home bases while Archie is growing up.
