Several users of the 13-inch MacBook Pro are recently complaining about an odd bug that entails at least eight hours of charging as part of its fix. The current issue found in models with two Thunderbolt 3 ports keeps on shutting down despite that the battery is sufficiently charged. Here are the steps on how to resolve this bug.

This solution is also available on Apple's support site. In step 5, Apple recommends charging the 13-inch MacBook Pro for eight long hours before updating it to the latest version of macOS. This is a strange solution and is likely related to the calibration of the unit's battery.

The Cupertino tech giant usually recommends SMC reset for battery management but not for this issue with the 13-inch MacBook Pro. If your unit has less than 90 percent battery, proceed to step 2. However, if your battery level is above 90 percent, use your 13-inch MacBook Pro until the battery level drops below 90 percent after that proceed to step 2.

Attach your 13-inch MacBook Pro to the power adapter and make sure to close all open applications. Then, close your MacBook, which means you are putting it on sleep mode. Charge your computer for eight hours, at least. After that, update your 13-inch MacBook Pro to the latest macOS.

If the issue continues to persist after you have done all the steps suggested above, then contact the nearest Apple center to schedule an appointment. If the issue is hardware-related, Apple will replace your 13-inch MacBook Pro. It is smart that before going to your appointment with Apple, make sure that you have backed-up all your data.

The Cupertino tech giant is planning to fix the issues related to software quality and intends to overhaul the development process. However, we have been on this road in the past, and Apple has similar internal overhauling after the release of the buggy iOS 11. This results in a release of a more polished iOS build, the Apple iOS 12.

At the time when the Cupertino tech giant is getting praise for its impressive hardware launches like the Apple iPhone 11 series and the 16-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has a forgettable year when it comes to software quality. Apple Watch, HomePod, iPad, iPhone, and Mac have all been casualties of buggy software updates. Several features that were originally announced coming with iOS 13 are still unavailable to users.
