Apple iOS is by far the more energy-efficient operating system, yet iPhone owners have been requesting a larger battery. To some extent, it seems that this request has been answered when the Cupertino tech giant launched the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s. But, the need for more hours of battery life is a never-ending request, and according to a new report, the 2020 iPhones will offer a little bit more battery by shrinking at least one component inside the upcoming handset.
The 2020 iPhones will reportedly have improved circuits, which will be a lot smaller in size compared to its predecessors. As a result, there will be more space for bigger batteries. This was shared by the Korean site The Elec, who claimed to have gotten the information from industry sources.
The improved circuits of the 2020 iPhones are in the form of a battery protection module. This is used to prevent the battery from over-charging and over-heating so it could last longer and is safe to use. With the 2020 iPhones, Apple will reportedly utilize a custom battery protection module, which is estimated to be 50 percent smaller in size.
Apple will source the battery protection module of 2020 iPhones from ITM Semiconductor, which is a Korea-based company. To achieve a smaller size, the company will reportedly combine the protection circuit with a PCD and MOSFET to eliminate the need for a holder. It is worth noting that the Cupertino-based tech giant has already improved the battery live of iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
The improvements in both devices are significant, with the iPhone 11 lasting for four more hours and iPhone 11 Pro lasting for five more hours compared to their predecessors. The improvement is the product of the enhanced efficiency of the Apple A13 Bionic chip and of course, larger batteries. If the recent report pans out, this is excellent news for iPhone users, knowing that Apple continues to improve the battery life even with the 2020 iPhones.
In addition to the improvements in battery life, the 2020 iPhones are anticipated to sport a new design that resembles a lot like the iPhone 4. The upcoming iPhone series will reportedly have support for 5G, a faster A14 processor, and a 120 Hz Promotion display. It is also expected to have an enhanced camera setup with the popular Time of Flight sensor for the AR functionality of the handset and much more.
