Jose Mourinho is pushing for additional players for Tottenham Hotspurs and reports claim that he wants a former Manchester United midfielder to play for the Spurs. The Special One reportedly contacted Marouane Fellaini, hoping that he could entice the midfielder back to the Premier League. Mourinho has sought out the previous Manchester Untied and Everton footballer as he wants to ink a deal with 32 years old Belgian in the new year, reports Les Sports.

Jose Mourinho and Marouane Fellaini have a close relationship during their time at Manchester United. However, reports have it that it might take a lot of convincing before the 32 years old midfielder will come back to Europe. Mourinho was the Manchester United boss who managed Marouane Fellaini before Norwegian coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to sell the Belgian midfielder earlier in 2019.

The Tottenham coach has reportedly made the signing of Marouane Fellaini his priority objective, according to La Derniere Heure. The Special One even contacted the Belgian midfielder earlier about the January transfer window. The 32 years old footballer left the Old Trafford after falling out of favor under the leadership of Solskjaer.

Currently, he is playing for the Chinese Super League side and has proven to be a good catch helping his team Shandong Luneng land in fifth. Marouane Fellaini has a contract with the Chinese football club until 2021 with an option for an additional year. He has scored 12 goals in 32 appearances since he moved to Asia.

Marouane Fellaini and Jose Mourinho worked for two and a half years at Old Trafford. Mourinho was a big advocate of the Belgian midfielder's versatility and called him fundamental following Manchester United's w2-0 win over Burnley.

Fellaini and Mourinho worked together for the duration of the Portuguese's two-and-a-half-year tenure at Old Trafford. Jose Mourinho was appointed recently as the new coach of Tottenham Hotspur. His appointment came following the exile of Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino. Since his reign at the Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho has lost once a match, which is against Manchester United.

Meanwhile, several reports claim that some Hotspur supporters are not in favor of Mourinho's move to sign Marouane Fellaini. It remains to be seen if Mourinho will be able to convince the Belgian midfielder to move to North London.
