The door has been opened for Kevin Love to depart from the Cleveland Cavaliers, and such talks are nothing new to the NBA All-Star. Love said being traded is part of the business, so the rumors don't bother him. But in case he must switch sides, the power forward wants his next destination to be a winner.
If the reports prove correct, the Cavs is now ready to consider trade offers on Love, whose existing deal with Cleveland will see him collecting pay of $90 million over the next three years. CBS Sports said Love is officially on the trading block.
The report is echoing the claims recently made by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, which stated: "Cleveland is ready now to listen to offers on Kevin Love."
"He's going to be a player very much in demand, and I think there's going to be a lot of conversations between Cleveland and teams all over the league about Love," the ESPN broadcast was reported as saying.
CBS said if Love can have his way, his decision is to stick with the Cavs where he remains happy, as indicated by his earlier statements. However, the prospect of changing teams is not lost on his mind, and Love acknowledged that the chance of getting shipped out is real in the NBA.
"I say that knowing it's the NBA and it's a business. I think especially after seeing last year, the summer leading up to last year and this summer, the changeover is like unprecedented so you don't know what is going to happen," Love said.
He added there is a possibility that the Cavs would want to rebuild and go for a younger lineup. Love said he is ready for such a scenario to play out.
He insisted though, that he remains clueless if the trade will happen and if that is the case, there is no telling yet where his next destination will be.
"Truthfully, I don't know how it's going to play out, because I see both sides," Love stressed.
As mentioned, Love would want to join a team that can win the NBA title and on that respect, Bleacher Report has suggested three options namely the Phoenix Suns, the Sacramento Kings, and the Portland Trail Blazers.
As far as the ongoing NBA campaign is concerned, any of these destinations would be great for Love. He will be joining a core of players that would suit his basketball skills set. And making the playoffs is certainly on the horizon, which should be a plus for the Cavs superstar.
