Many royal fans could take the joke or criticisms that were thrown to the senior members of the royal family, but not on the children. Many took offense when the royal kids were become subject of a joke or being ridiculed in public.
Take for instance on what happened at this year's Royal Variety Performance. The event takes place every year. The money raised from the show helps hundreds of entertainers in the United Kingdom who are in difficult situations or need of assistance due to old age or illness.
Last year, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended the show. The Suits actress was pregnant at the time. This year, it is Prince William and Kate's turn again.
Overall, the event was a success, but many royal fans were outraged that several comedians made jokes about Prince William and Kate Middleton's children on stage. Comedian Romesh Ranganathan aimed the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's children-- Prince George, six, Princess Charlotte, four, and Prince Louis, one.
"Like me you're blessed with three kids. I imagine every morning they come running into your bedroom and you look at their beautiful faces and say, 'I regret this,'" he said.
Comedian Rob Beckett also mentioned the couple's kids, saying some extra pounds for the babysitter would be worth it if Kate and William would enjoy their "date night" away from the kids. In all of it, the Cambridges just laughed off the jokes and took no offense but not their fans.
One fan expressed pity for Kate and William for having to listen to what she called one of the poorest Royal Variety Show ever seen. Another noted it was an embarrassing show, and the couple has to endure it all night.
This is not the first time royal fans slammed those who made jokes or mocked the royal children in public. It can be recalled that in August, Good Morning America host Lara Spencer was slammed by netizens after she mocked Prince George for talking ballet lessons at school.
Famous choreographers, dancers, and celebrities condemned her remarks. Grey's Anatomy star/director Debbie Allen, Suits actor Dule Hill, and So You Think You Can Dance star Mark Kanemura were among the celebrities who criticized Spencer for her comment.
Hundreds of dancers also performed in New York City's Time Square, in front of GMA's studio, to show their support for the young prince's interest in dancing. It was also a show of support to all the men in ballet. Spencer has since apologized for her comment.
