One of the key points that consumers check when purchasing a smartphone these days is the camera prowess that translates to photo quality. The competition is stiff, and other smartphone makers are continually enhancing their respective tech to attract consumers. Apple, looking ahead, recently acquired Spectral Edge to make sure that future iPhone photos are superior and have better qualities than others.
Spectral Edge is a Cambridge-based firm that focuses on developing technology that enhances photos that consumers automatically take, reports Bloomberg. To achieve this, the company captures a picture in an infrared version using machine learning and uses machine learning to enhance the image. The result is a crisper photo with gloriously accurate and vivid colors.
While Apple has not yet officially announced the recent acquisition of Specter Edge, Peter Ronald Denwood is now one of the directors of the Cupertino tech juggernaut, says PC Mag. Interestingly, all other board members are now terminated, indicative that the complete of the firm now belongs to Apple. The Cupertino company has a research and product development facility in Cambridge, England, and it appears that the tech and whatever is left of Spectral Edge would be merged.
It is also possible that Apple keeps both places active in the city. In terms of camera prowess and picture quality, search engine giant Google holds the crown among flagship smartphones courtesy of Google Pixel 4, reports PC Mag. Google utilizes software to improve the images shot with its smartphones. Apple is catching up in that field, and the acquisition of Spectral Edge looks like a strategic move to close the gap and get ahead of the race, the report adds.
Apple's iPhone 11 Pro boasts an excellent camera power, but there is a chance that this new technology from Spectral Edge might be on the iPhone 12 next year. 2020 will be a big year for all smartphone makers with reports of 5G connectivity network breaking through the industry. More smartphones will aim to capture consumers by introducing flagship devices that are 5G ready.
But it is not all 5G, and Apple knows that the next generation connectivity network is at its early stage in 2020. With superior iPhone 12 photos, the Cupertino tech giant is hoping to capture the majority of the industry next year. And, it appears that consumers will have a wide range of options when it comes to choices.
Apple is reportedly releasing six iPhone 12 models aside from the iPhone SE 2, also releasing in the first quarter of next year.
