BTS has been confirmed to perform in the iconic Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve at New York City's Times Square on December 31. Now, BTS ARMY has the answer as to why the septet won't be taking part in the upcoming 2019 MBC Gayo Daejun.

Dick Clark Productions dropped the lineup of artists that will welcome the new year in multiple cities. Aside from BTS, the lineup for NYC include Post Malone, country singer Sam Hunt, and singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette.

The cast of the Broadway musical Jagged Little Pill will also join the group in New York. The New Year's Eve event at Times Square will air live on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern and it will be hosted by Ryan Seacrest.

This is the second year of BTS to perform at the most-watch New Year's Eve show in the U.S. They were first invited in 2017. At the time, they performed "DNA" and "MIC Drop." However, their performances were pre-recorded and aired during the live special. This time around, it will be a live performance from the Billboard and American Music Award Best Duo/Group winner.

It was earlier announced that BTS won't be taking part in the 2019 MBC Gayo Daejun. The Korean network's year-end show typically airs on December 31 and the "Boy With Luv" hitmakers usually perform at the event.

However, it was announced earlier that BTS won't be attending the MBC music festival this year. Many BTS ARMY thought Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook are skipping the year-end show in Korea to spend the New Year with their family. Then Dick Clark Productions announced its New Year's Eve celebration lineup.

Many BTS fans agreed with Big Hit Entertainment's decision to let the group perform in a foreign show rather than in MBC Gayo Daejun. The fans cited how the septet was treated by the show last year.

It can be recalled that many K-pop fans were surprised that BTS wasn't the last performers in the 2018 MBC Gayo Daejun. BTS fans, in particular, stressed that the last slot should have been given to the group since they are the biggest Korean act of the year, not only in their home country but also overseas.

"BTS will be celebrating New Year's at Times Square. After how MBC treated them last year, BTS decided to perform in the U.S. instead! Take that MBC! That's what happened when you don't appreciate the best Korean Artist in the world. The GLOW UP! Hahaha," one fan tweeted.

Meanwhile, the annual Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve will occur simultaneously in multiple cities across the U.S. There will be celebrations in Hollywood, Miami, and New Orleans. Each spot has a different lineup of artists.
