From outside onlookers and critics, the marriage between President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump may seem like a disaster. However, sources who have known the couple for years said that Melania is the perfect wife for the high-profile New York businessman who would become the President of the United States.

In a report from Vanity Fair, Melania is apparently content in letting Trump take the center stage while she steps back and stays in the background. Unlike Trump's two ex-wives -- the "feisty and demanding" Ivana Trump and the "needy" Marla Maples -- Melania apparently knew her role and the kind of man she married from the very beginning.

Their relationship works perfectly for many years because Melania is not the type to pick a fight. She also knew how to flatter and hype her husband which Donald regards as his wife's way of showing her affection for him.

However, insiders also said that she didn't want her husband to run for president. She was actually terrified of the thought that he would win, regardless of how supportive she is as his wife.

During the presidential campaign, Melania stayed home with their growing son, Barron, as much as possible. When Donald won the Republican nomination, she was thrusted to do more for her husband and had to go up on the stage for speeches.

There were signs that the pressure was taking a toll on Donald's wife as their journey to the White House became clearer and clearer. She was allegedly losing weight and losing sleep.

Amid the many controversies that came out about her husband, there were rumors that she was making plans of divorcing him, which her camp denied.  Reports also came out that the President and First Lady slept in separate quarters in their new home in Washington.

According to reports, Melania occupies an entire floor in the White House completely separate from her husband. She has her own glam room and gym. Donald is on the second floor of the residence, while Melania is on the third floor, which was once the space for Marian Robinson, former First Lady Michelle Obama's mother.

Sources close to the couple, however, said that it's not a surprising arrangement. Couples like Melania and Donald, who are used to living in a sprawling space, want their own area and their own spot.

But on their first New Year's eve as the President and First Lady, Melania and Donald apparently looked like they were on their first date, according to witnesses. Not many people have the kind of relationship as Melania and Donald but it works for them.
