Prince William and Kate Middleton have two Christmas photos but only one was officially released. The other one showed similarities with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Christmas card. Both snaps have heartwarming Christmas messages but the other has a secret meaning.
William and Kate dropped their black and white photos to greet their fans on Christmas Day. In the Cambridges snap, William is seen kissing their youngest, Prince Louis, while Princess Charlotte standing next to her little brother and Prince George sitting on a chair. Kate is noticeably absent in the photo.
The snap was reportedly taken in the family's Norfolk home earlier this year. Apparently, it was shot by Kate herself. The Duchess of Cambridge is known for taking photos of her family but she rarely uses a black and white format.
"Merry Christmas! This photograph of The Duke of Cambridge, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis was taken by The Duchess of Cambridge in Norfolk earlier this year. We wish all our followers a very happy and relaxing Christmas Day," the caption reads.
Quickly after the photo was shared on the royal family's official social media accounts, some fans noticed its similarities to the Christmas photo of Prince Harry, Meghan, and Baby Archie. Earlier this week, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared their first-ever Christmas card with their son. Archie was born in May.
In Harry and Meghan's holiday snap, the couple is seen sitting on the floor laughing. Baby Archie upstaged his parents as he crawls right in front of the camera lens. The photo was also black-and-white.
The Sussexes often share black and white snaps of them. One of which is the photo Prince Harry and his father, Prince Charles, during the christening of Archie Harrison.
Meanwhile, the Cambridges have another Christmas photo. However, the Kensington Palace decided not to release it was leaked on social media by a woman who received one of the family's Christmas cards.
According to royal expert Camilla Tominey, the palace planned to release the card formally but decided against it after the leaked. The card featured the same photo of the Cambridges that was seen on Queen Elizabeth II's table during her annual Christmas address. Unlike the Christmas photo that the Cambridges released, this one has Kate Middleton on it.
Tominey revealed that there is also a secret message in the photo. She said William and Kate choose this image to be sent out to their fans as it shows that their relationship is "not in any trouble. Tominey hinted that this would be a "more endearing family image" to be released before Christmas.
