Following a recent report that Made for iPhone devices are coming soon, Anker, a popular USB charging company, announced its all-new iPhone 11 accessory that should enhance mobile photography in terms of lighting. The company recently launched the Apple-certified mobile lighting accessory for the current generation Apple flagship smartphone. Unlike other products, Anker's latest flash links directly to the Lightning cable of the iPhone 11, which allows it to sync with the device's shutter and work with its native camera app along with other third-party camera alternatives.

The latest flash accessory from Anker is a made for iPhone certified product available for iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. While the product is not yet listed, reports claim that it will retail at $49.99 and will arrive in Jan. 2020. the new Anker flash accessory comes with a removable diffuser (optional) and could last for 10,000 uses before requiring a recharge.

The company mentions that its Made for iPhone flash accessory is capable of providing four times the brightness and two times the range of the iPhone 11 series' default flash. Although there are other flash accessories available in the market today, Anker's flash accessory is the only Apple-certified product, so far. 9To5mac earlier this month reported that the Cupertino company had sent a new set of specifications to various manufacturers under the made for iPhone (MFI) program.

On the Anker forum site, the external flash accessory features and details include:

First MFi flash accessory for creative photography with iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

Takes advantage of Lightning connector for tight synchronization with iPhone rear camera

Works with the native Camera app and 3rd party apps

Helps illuminate objects at two times the range and four times the brightness with iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro

Enables off-axis and direct fill flash lighting effects both with and without (included) detachable diffuser

Can also operate in standalone flashlight mode

1/4" ISO mount for easy connection with other camera accessories

10,000 shots per charge, recharge with any Apple, Anker, or MFi USB to Lightning cable

The new set of specs reportedly concerned external mobile photography lighting accessories like flashes and strobes. The release of the new Anker flash accessory is proof of this initiative. While it may not be the kind of flash that many photography enthusiasts have in mind, Anker external flash accessory is only the beginning of a promising initiative.

It remains to be seen how other lighting company like Profoto would be able to do given its new capability. Consumers could expect more of this kind of accessories from manufacturers under Apple Made for iPhone program. Also, other manufacturers could soon release similar attachments considering that Apple already released an entire category of External LED flash accessories.

Consumers love taking photos more than photography enthusiasts do. This attachment could soon turn out as popular as the selfie sticks or grips.
