It might be fair to say that Melania Trump's biggest work isn't being the First Lady to President Donald Trump. She is more focused on being a hands-on mother to their only son, Barron, and this 13-year-old boy is the sole reason why Melania would rather stay in the background than join the political crossfire alongside her husband.
According to Kate Bennet, who wrote the book "Free, Melania: The Unauthorized Biography," Barron was the main reason why Melania avoided social parties while they lived in New York. Her son was also the reason why she chose not to join her husband's campaign trail just before the elections in 2016 and why she and Baron didn't move to the White House the moment Trump won the elections.
According to Bennet, Melania's decisions in her life and work revolved around Barron as she is a hands-on mother. She takes a light work schedule and, as much as possible, refrain from going on long trips so that she could be at home when Barron has school work and activities.
Though the Trumps have a nanny and a help, Melania was apparently the one who fed Barron and changed his diapers as a baby. She was also the kind of mother who spent time playing with her child and is more focused on helping him with school work than attending to social events in New York.
Melania had to enforce a delay in their move to the White House because the mother didn't want to pluck her son in the middle of the school year in New York to continue in Washington, D.C. Instead, they had to wait until school was over for half a year until the mother and child could join President Trump at his official residence.
While Melania is quiet about the controversies and criticisms lobbied against her husband, she didn't let one comment about her son, Barron, pass. According to CNN, Melania publicly admonished a professor on Twitter after she made an analogy about Barron at the height of her husband's impeachment inquiry hearing.
The First Lady let out a fiery Twitter message telling off Pamela Karlan for using her child's name to pander to the public. She reminded the professor that a minor child, such as Barron, is entitled to his privacy and "should be kept out of politics."
After Melania's social media post, Karlan issued an apology and said that it was wrong of her to talk about the President's son. She said she regretted saying what she said even if she is in favor of the impeachment.
