The eldest child of Donald Trump celebrated his 42nd birthday on New Year's Eve. As a tribute to Donald Trump Jr., his sister, Ivanka Trump, posted a throwback photo of herself with her brothers as children.
On Twitter, Ivanka posted the birthday greeting along with the photo of the Trump children as middle schoolers. It showed Ivanka smiling as she cuddled with Donald Jr. and Eric.
Despite the seemingly lovely gesture, The Atlantic reported that Ivanka has a complicated relationship with her older brother. Apparently, Donald Jr. and Ivanka have been competing against each other for years to potentially takeover the Trump empire.
According to the report, Ivanka and Donald Jr. used to throw accusations at each other for leaking stories to the press. Donald Jr. also once confronted her sister because her team was allegedly undermining him.
But journalist McKay Coppins said that the Trump children know Ivanka is the favorite child. The president has apparently been grooming Ivanka to run the family empire when the right time comes.
Ivanka is touted as the golden child. She has beauty, she's telegenic and she has that crucial family-trait of being image conscious. President Trump has always been open about praising his daughter in the media.
Meanwhile, as President Trump is gunning for a second term in the White House, Ivanka has categorically stated that she might not be staying in Washington any longer if her father is re-elected. According to CNN, Ivanka expressed that she's going to put her children as her priority for 2020.
Ivanka said that her decision to stay will be driven by her children. She will have to ensure that their needs and happiness are going to be on the top of her considerations.
After Trump won the elections in 2016, Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner left New York and bought a house in Washington, D.C. They uprooted their whole family so that Ivanka and Jared could work as White House advisers.
In a related story, Page Six reported that the Trump family celebrated Donald Jr.'s birthday in Mar-a-Lago. Spotted at the party for the president's eldest child was Melania Trump and all of the Trump kids -- Ivanka with her husband Jared, Eric with his wife Lara, Tiffany and Barron.
The next day, Donald Jr. fired up Twitter after posting a meme for New Year's Day. Some saw the post as the son boasting of his father's potential will win the re-election in November.
Supporters of the Trumps, on the other hand, rallied behind Donald Jr. There were pro-Trump netizens who said that Donald Jr. could run as president for 2024.
