Prince Harry and Meghan Markle decided to spend their Christmas holiday abroad to recharge and rediscover each other from their tumultuous time in London since the fall season. Reports, however, stated that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex barely spent time together while on their vacation in Canada.

A source apparently told New Idea that the Canada visit was a "complete escape" for Meghan. She and Prince Harry spent time apart and gave space to each other to rethink about their future together.

This doesn't mean, however, that Prince Harry and Meghan's marriage is on the brink of a breakup. The source said that the Sussex royals still love each other but their relationship has hit a rough patch one year after their marriage.

The insider went on to say that Prince Harry is "desperate not to give up on the relationship" with Meghan. The Duke of Sussex apparently loves being a dad to their son Archie Harrison.

Royal biographer Phil Dampier said that, if the Sussex couple's marriage does not survive it's likely due to Meghan struggling with being a royal. It's no secret that Meghan admitted in public that she did not expect the massive scrutiny of their lives. She also said that she thought the media would be fair and not skew reports about her. Dampier wished that the couple did find their holiday break in Canada more enlightening.

However, the story from New Idea about Prince Harry and Meghan spending time apart during Christmas ran counter to various reports that the Sussexes were spotted together around the small town. Some locals said that the royal pair took advantage of the great outdoors near the house they rented for their holiday.

In fact, Prince Harry and Meghan had such a wonderful time during their Christmas break in the North American region that they would like to personally thank the Canadian people for their warm hospitality. According to Vancouver Sun, Prince Harry and Meghan will meet with Canada's High Commissioner at the Canada House in London upon their return from their holiday. They will also be going to the Canada Gallery to look at the work of Skawennati an Indigenous artist from Montreal.

This will actually be Prince Harry and Meghan's first official royal duties for 2020. According to People, the last time the couple visited the Canada House was in March 2019, just a few months before Meghan gave birth to Archie Harrison.
