Before meeting Prince Harry, then American TV star Meghan Markle made the same New Year's resolutions every year and she never managed to keep it. But in 2016, she resolved to make just one good promise to herself, which she was actually able to fulfill.

According to People, Meghan wrote on her now-defunct blog The Tig that she always made the same four resolutions every single year. She wanted to run a marathon. She needed to stop swearing. She had to re-learn French and she must stop biting her finger nails.

The Duchess of Sussex, however, admitted that she was also always never close to achieving these goals. She hasn't been in a marathon and her swears come out when she's had a few drinks or she's tired from work or stressed from work. The same thing also goes for her nail-biting habit, which she described as "unladylike." Meghan also said that she studied French in high school but lost the ability to speak the language when she lived in Buenos Aires, where Spanish is the main language.

So, frustrated over not being able to keep her promises, Meghan told herself that, for that year, she has to simply "leave room for magic" and stop making resolutions she will never do. Meghan also told herself to enjoy life and keep a higher standard of self-acceptance.

Six months after making that resolution, Meghan went on a blind date set up by a mutual friend and met the man she would be her forever, Prince Harry. Recounting how they met, Prince Harry confirmed during their engagement interviewin 2017 that their common friend introduced them and then they went on back-to-back dates beginning July 2016.

Four weeks later, Prince Harry persuaded Meghan to join him for a trip to Botswana, where they camped out under the stars. From there, the couple were inseparable and got married in May 2018, where the Queen made them the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry and Meghan marked their 2020 New Year with their new son Archie Harrison. The couple, who have been spending the holidays in Canada, shared a new photo of the Sussex boys on their Instagram account on New Year's Day. The photo also came with a video recap of their family's highlights for 2019, which included photos with Prince William and Kate.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also said thank their followers from all over the world and they expressed hope for meeting and sharing new experiences with more people for the coming year.
