Amid concerns about Prince Philip's condition, Prince Harry and Meghan are reportedly being urged to fly back and cut their holiday trip in North America short. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their son Archie, have been spending a six-week vacation with Meghan's mother and friends in the United States and Canada.
According to Mirror, some royal family members want Prince Harry and Meghan to return amid speculations that this could the last holiday for Prince Philip. Allegedly, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been regarded as "inconsiderate and selfish" for not thinking about Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's advancing age when they planned to skip Christmas with the royal family.
One member of the family allegedly said that Archie should have some photos and memories of his great-grandparents for Christmas. The source also said that if the Sussexes have been spending some time abroad to process and recalibrate their strategy as working royals, Prince Harry and Meghan must also start thinking about coming home to London at the soonest possible time.
Prince Philip is now resting at the Queen's Sandringham estate after a four-day hospital confinement in London. Reports revealed that the Duke of Edinburgh was able to join Queen Elizabeth and the royal family at the country estate in time for Christmas Eve.
According to CNN, Prince Philip was discharged at the King Edward VII Hospital before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24. He was seen getting inside the passenger side of a green Range Rover and was later aboard a helicopter that took him home to his wife.
Last Friday, Prince Philip was confined for observation and treatment of a pre-existing condition upon his doctor's advice. Buckingham Palace issued a statement to confirm that the hospitalization was a "precautionary measure."
Prince Philip didn't arrive nor leave the hospital using an ambulance. In fact, when he was confined last Friday, he walked by himself towards the hospital's entrance.
The Duke of Edinburgh, now 98 years old, retired from public service in 2017. He has been staying at his own estate near Sandringham since his retirement.
Though he was his wife, children and grandchildren for Christmas, Prince Philip did not join the family for the Christmas mass the next morning. He also skipped last year's solemnity even as he was in a better state of health.
