The Cupertino tech titan Apple recently launched a new program for Apple iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR battery cases made between Jan. 2019 and Oct. 2019. The new replacement program, the company will provide a free replacement for some iPhone battery cases with built-in batteries because of some charging issues. iPhone owners could replace the Smart Battery Cases of their faulty iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR in any color, according to a notice posted by the Cupertino company on its official website.

Defective iPhone battery cases, at times, will not charge the phone inside the case, explains Apple. The company, however, clarifies that the new replacement program is not related to the safety issue. iPhone owners have a couple of years from the date of purchase to swap their defective Smart Battery Cases.

Apple's Smart Battery Cases can help keep the iPhone run longer by adding an external battery, although the only downside is that it adds a bit of bulk to iPhone handsets. The cases take advantage of the tight integration with the operating system of the iPhone. If you think your iPhone battery case is eligible for replacement, take it to the nearest Apple Store.

Aside from getting a new model, you will also minimize the risk of developing issues with your battery case in the future. Apple says iPhone owners have to take their units to an authorized service provider or an Apple Store. The service center will examine the unit to make sure that it is eligible for the new replacement program of the company.

If the iPhone battery case is considered eligible for the program, Apple will dispose of the old model in an environment-friendly manner. Meanwhile, Apple recently updated the official page of its trade-in program with new estimated payment values for iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and other products. Recent changes in Apple product's trade-in values mean that customers will get lesser trade-in value for their Apple devices now compared to the trade-in value earlier this month.

The Cupertino company's trade-in value slashes range from a $20 reduction up to $100, says BGR, which first reported the changes. The Apple trade-in program encourages Apple users to hand in their older Apple devices in exchange for the credit to the price of new Apple products. The program provides value to older Apple products.

The product that received the biggest trade-in value cut is the iPhone XS Max. Its trade-in value is now only $500 from earlier this month's $600.
